Community Event Host

Location: Drawing Room (In-Person)
Position Type: Part-Time, primarily on weeknights and weekends

At Drawing Room, we host a number of Community Events each month. While workshops are more focused on learning a skill, Community Events are more focused on fostering connections with new people over a shared activity. Because community-building takes center-stage for these events, we need our Community Event Hosts to be really great facilitators that are passionate about Drawing Room’s mission of connecting with others and sparking connections among others.

What You’ll Do:

  • Host and Facilitate Events: Ensure attendees feel welcomed, included, and engaged.

  • Spark Connections: Initiate conversations and help participants build natural, enjoyable relationships.

  • Share Our Mission: Deliver the Drawing Room pitch and effectively explain our mission and purpose.

  • Provide Event Support: Act as a point of contact during events, addressing needs or concerns to create a seamless experience.

  • Collaborate on Activities: Work with the team to design creative and social activities for events.

  • Demonstrate Skills: Provide basic demos and explanations for various creative community events.

  • Foster Belonging & Engagement: Create a grounding atmosphere and make each event a memorable experience. Encourage participation and attendance at future events within the community.

  • Deliver Event Recaps: Provide the team with recaps, highlight urgent challenges, and propose long-term solutions.

What We’re Looking For:

  • A natural facilitator who enjoys connecting with people and building relationships.

  • No problem public speaking; can command a room when necessary, and project your voice

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Energetic, personable, and approachable demeanor.

  • Experience in hosting or organizing events is a plus.

  • Able to think on their feet and problem solve in the moment.

  • A passion for creativity, community, and bringing people together.

Compensation & role details:

  • $25–$30 per hour, based on experience

  • 5-10 hours per week to start, with plenty of opportunities for the role to expand
