Carve & Print

  • Drawing Room 247 West 30th Street New York, NY, 10001 United States (map)

Learn block printing, instructed by Meiying Thai!

An accessible introduction to block printing, a historical type of surface design that has roots in the textile traditions of China, India, Japan, and Egypt.

We’ll learn how to design and carve our own stamps, ink them with brayers and fabric ink, then apply them as prints to canvas totes, tea towels, and postcards. Experiment and combine them with natural materials as stamps like veggies, fruits, shells, and more. We’ll have some pre-made stamps for you to use in your pieces too! Make one-of-a-kind objects – an everyday bag, dish towel for your kitchen, and a single edition print – and learn a new skill :)

$89 per person (limited early bird tickets available – $80)

Limited spots!

  • We'll provide the following surfaces for you to customize/block print:

    • a blank tote bag

    • a blank tea towel

Feel free to bring anything else you'd like to stamp with fabric paint (ie. clothes you want to upcycle, etc.)

  • Tea, coffee, and some cookies included!

What makes workshops at Drawing Room unique: Our mission is to build community through creativity. Every aspect was thoughtfully designed to facilitate connections over shared purpose – the music, activity, refreshments, etc. Come experience the magic of Drawing Room!
